Gold

Jet Set Candy provides a range of collectable designs in 14-karat gold vermeil and 14-karat solid gold.

GOLD VERMEIL

Jet Set Candy uses the superiority of gold vermeil over standard gold-plating as it is one of the thickest forms of plating with a mandatory base of solid sterling silver — all of which adds to the quality, durability and beauty of your adornment.

Gold vermeil (pronounced: vermay) is the official industry name for a heavy gold electroplating over a base sterling silver material. A minimum thickness of 2.5 microns of gold must be deposited before it can be marked or sold as Vermeil.

CARING FOR GOLD

Gold is rare and beautiful, and while very durable, it can get scratched or dented. Between professional servicing, most gold jewelry can be maintained with a non-abrasive cleaner.

Avoid exposing gold jewelry to household bleach, which will quickly cause gold to discolor and possibly disintegrate. Likewise, beware of chemicals, especially chlorine, as repeated exposure can weaken gold's structure and eventually lead to breakage. We recommend removing your jewelry while cleaning as acids, abrasives, and other harsh chemicals found in some common household cleaning solutions can weaken your jewelry or damage its finish.

WASHING GOLD

Unlike silver, gold doesn't develop a dull tarnished finish over time. However, we recommend cleaning your gold jewelry regularly as it can lose its luster over time if repeatedly exposed to dust, moisture, perspiration and makeup. Between professional servicing, most gold jewelry can be maintained with a non-abrasive cleaner.
Note: Even though gold vermeil has a solid sterling silver base, you should avoid using a silver polish on it.

STORING GOLD

Between usage, we recommend that you place your jewelry back in its original case or another suitably lined box or pouch.
